Vib Ribbon was another popular import (it came out in PAL regions too), a simple rhythm game that succeeded solely on its amazing little tunes, cute rabbit character, and stark graphical presentation. Ore no Ryouri was a popular JPN import focused on preparing food dishes with controller inputs.

Most people know about LSD / Dream Simulator these days. The guy who wrote the wonderful music passed away some years ago, sadly. Jumping Flash! 2 is a beautiful and odd 3D platformer with lovely environments and a great soundtrack. Oh, Artdink made the Aquanaut's Holiday games, and that reminds me of Namco's underwater exploration PS1 contribution, Treasures of the Deep. Unfortunately most of its English-language fan-created resources are now only viewable, if at all, via the Wayback Machine.Ĭheck out literally any other PSX Artdink game as well. Difficult, utterly unique, and a select few players of the proper mindset fall in love with it.

I can't say these are obscure per se but they came to mind.Ĭarnage Heart is an Artdink series in which you literally program autonomous mecha by placing command tiles on a grid and then hope your programs alone are good enough for your mecha to win in battles against other mecha.
